BBL: Bamberg Baskets Suffer Another Defeat

Weißenfels, 11-16-2024

It was a disappointment for the Bamberg Baskets: On Saturday evening, the Bamberg team lost 99:94 (54:39) to SYNTAINICS MBC at the Stadthalle Weißenfels, marking their fifth defeat of the season.

In the first quarter, the Bamberger fell behind quickly due to weak retreat behavior and ineffective one-on-one defense. MBC exploited the gaps mercilessly, especially former Bamberg player Spencer Reaves, who stood out with 24 points and six three-pointers. Bamberg trailed by up to 18 points. At halftime, they were down 54:39. Only after the break did the guests show more intensity. Led by Ronaldo Segu (26 points), Brandon Horvath (14 points), and Macio Teague (13 points), the Gavel boys gradually reduced the deficit. A cross-quarter 11-0 run even brought the first Bamberg lead (74:73) through a layup by Filip Stanic. But MBC responded promptly. Spencer Reaves managed a “four-point play,” sealing Bamberg’s defeat. With only two wins from seven games, the Baskets are now tied with Hamburg and Frankfurt for the penultimate place.

On Monday, December 2, 2024, the Bamberg Baskets will be away at the currently winless bottom team BG Göttingen. Tip-off is at 8:00 PM.
