BBL Cup: Bamberg in the Top Four!

The Bamberg Baskets are among the top four in the BBL Cup! In the sold-out BROSE ARENA with 5,700 spectators, Head Coach Anton Gavel's team defeated the eleven-time cup winner from the capital city on Sunday evening with 80:67 (35:36).
From the beginning, the Baskets presented themselves highly concentrated at both ends of the court. While they did an excellent job as a team in defense, making life difficult for the nearly full-strength Berlin team, they patiently created good opportunities in attack and used them to take a 16:11 lead. However, unnecessary turnovers reduced the lead to 21:16 by the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Baskets' shooting percentage dropped slightly. 81 seconds before the halftime buzzer, it was Yanni Wetzell who put the visitors ahead. The 35:36 was also the halftime score. After the break, the game remained close and balanced. After trailing 46:51, a timeout by Gavel turned the tide. Teague then scored 12 of his 15 points and led his team with dynamic actions. Supported by spectacular blocks from KeyShawn Feazell and the loud support of the fans, Bamberg pulled ahead to 63:52. In the final quarter, the Baskets consistently extended their lead. Thanks to a strong team performance, Bamberg deservedly reached the semifinals of the BBL Cup.
Also qualified for the Top Four are SYNTAINICS MBC and SKYLINERS FRANKFURT. The last participant will be determined on Monday evening in the match between FC Bayern Munich Basketball and RASTA Vechta.
On Wednesday, December 11, 2024, Bamberg will play away in the ENBL. Tip-off at Legia Warsaw is at 7:00 PM.
