BBL: Defeat at the Bottom

Göttingen, 12-02-2024

On the 10th matchday of the BBL, the Bamberg Baskets suffered their third consecutive away defeat on Monday evening. Even in the away game against the bottom team in Göttingen, there was nothing to gain for the Bamberg Baskets. In front of 2,539 spectators, the Bamberg team lost 97:88 (57:46) to BG Göttingen in the Sparkassen-Arena.

The Bamberg team started well and were ahead 5:0 after just two minutes with a basket from Filip Stanić and a three-pointer from Karsten Tadda. However, the Göttingen team gradually found their way into the game, and Kostja Mushidi equalized from the free-throw line. Even after that, the Bamberg team initially remained dominant and took the lead again. In the second quarter, however, the hosts managed to equalize. After this, the Bamberg team picked up the pace again and took the lead. In the following minutes, the Baskets had the chance to extend their lead, but Karsten Tadda's fast-break three-pointer missed the target, as did Ibi Watson's dunk attempt. The Göttingen team drew noticeable strength from Bamberg's mistakes and increased the tempo. A 13:3 run by the hosts turned the game around. In the second half, the Bamberg defense allowed the opponent too many opportunities, which were ruthlessly exploited. At the end of the third quarter, the hosts led 82:68. In the final quarter, the Göttingen team pulled away and secured their first win of the season.

Next Sunday, the Bamberg team has the opportunity to break their losing streak. They will host ALBA BERLIN in the cup quarterfinals at home. Tip-off is at 6:00 PM.
