Christian Engelhart back on the podium in the ADAC GT Masters at Most

Most, 05-19-2019

Christian Engelhart and his teammate Mirko Bortolotti accomplished their own targets by finishing second in the first race of the ADAC GT Masters in Most to capture a place on the winner’s rostrum for the first time in the still young season. This success is now an incentive for them to follow suit in the upcoming races and ensure a regular place on the podium.

The result in qualifying on the weekend of racing in Most indicated that the duo from the Grasser Racing Team could have good prospects. The number 63 embarked on a successful race from the first row on the grid. On the tough and tight track at Most in the Czech Republic, Christian and Mirko again demonstrated their class in combination with a Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo that had been excellently prepared by GRT.

“We made progress bit by bit on the Friday thanks to some hard work and really got our car into very decent shape for the Saturday. That became apparent early in the day and so we were also able to capture this important place on the rostrum in the race itself.”

With the first points of the season under their belt, the fight for the title is now just getting started for the duo. “Of course, we want to be in contention among the leaders. We’ll try to achieve that in the two races in Spielberg on the weekend. That wasn’t possible here in Most due to the track conditions and the success ballast additionally installed on our car in the Sunday race. But on our team’s home turf, we have a very clear goal: To get on the podium twice.”

Before the race on the Grasser Racing Team’s home track, the Red Bull Ring, however, Christian faces the first really long race of the European season in 10 days’ time: the Paul Ricard 6 Hours, which traditionally extends into the night.
