Christian Engelhart kicks off the 2019 season

Starnberg, 03-11-2019

After an extremely successful winter program in 2019 in which he won the 24 Hours of Daytona and finished fourth in the Dubai 24 Hours, Christian Engelhart now embarks on an intensive phase of preparation for the season in the European Sprint and Endurance series. The Bavarian pilot is setting store by continuity and will again line up in 2019 with the Austrian GRT Grasser Racing Team in a Lamborghini – and will tackle an intensive program.

“We’ve gelled very well over the past years. The team’s like a second family to me at the track. In addition, we’re instigating a new project this year with the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO and have high hopes with it,” said Christian, giving an initial preview of the year ahead.

As is almost already tradition, the 32-year-old will compete in the ADAC GT Masters and complement his program with the races in the Blancpain GT Series with its highlight, the 24 Hours of Spa on the Spa-Francorchamps track. Christian will share the cockpit with teammate Mirko Bortolotti in the Blancpain GT Series and line up in both the sprint series World Challenge Europe and the Endurance Cup for races over 3 hours, in which they will be joined by Rolf Ineichen as the third pilot. The precise pairing in the ADAC GT Masters will be announced later.

“Of course, it’s another intensive program facing us. But want can be more wonderful for a pilot than to be behind the wheel regularly and measure yourself against the world’s best drivers in the GT arena. So I’m really looking forward to the tasks and challenges – and, of course, I want to chalk up a few successes again this year.”

In pursuit of that goal, Christian has been in the south of France in the past few weeks, completing numerous test drives along with the GRT team and teammates to work out the ideal setup for the brand-new Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO. Nothing is to be left to chance!
