ENBL: Bamberg Baskets with Home Victory Against Bucharest!

The Bamberg Baskets had a successful start to the European North Basketball League season on Wednesday evening. In their first ENBL group game, Bamberg defeated Dinamo Bukarest 93:78 (39:41) at home. Until halftime, the Romanians put up the expected tough resistance in front of 3,556 spectators in the BROSE ARENA, before Head Coach Anton Gavel’s team significantly increased the pace after the break and ruthlessly exploited the resulting advantages.
Both teams quickly found their offensive rhythm. Among others, it was the three-pointers from Ronaldo Segu, KeyShawn Feazell, Ibi Watson, and Moritz Krimmer that brought Bamberg into the lead for the first time at 16:15 after four and a half minutes. The Romanians, who had to do without their shooting guard Dalan Ancrum, fought back and were only narrowly behind at 26:24 after the first quarter. By halftime, the guests managed to take the lead at 39:41. Gavel’s team had problems with the compact play of the Romanians until the middle of the third quarter. Bamberg’s newcomer MaCie Teague, who integrated much better into the home team’s offensive play in his second game, initiated a 7:0 run with seven points. Gavel’s team was now finally superior, pulling away to 65:56 by the end of the quarter. In the final quarter, thanks to Ibrahim Watson and Ronaldo Segu (both 14 points), the lead became even clearer – the home team pulled away to 87:69 before Coach Gavel gave the young players some time on the field in the last minutes. Thus, Adrian Petković and Gabriel Kuku also got some international playing time in the final minutes and helped to secure the well-deserved home victory.
On Saturday, October 12, 2024, Bamberg will face Coach Anton Gavel’s former team, ratiopharm Ulm, at 4:00 PM in the BROSE ARENA for the BBL Cup round of 16.
