Kevin Krawietz, the tennis professional from Witzmannsberg, and his doubles partner Andreas Mies again drew a tough opponent in the ATP Masters 1000 Tournament in Shanghai. In the Round of 32, the French Open winners lost to the Serbian duo Novak Djokovic, who is ranked the world’s number one in the singles, and Filip Krajinovic by 3:6, 6:3 and 3:10.
After a checkered start, Krawietz/Mies displayed their ability in the second set. The fifth-seeded Germans made a quick break and held two serves to love to take a 3:0 lead and then the set to tie the encounter. As in the match against Zverev/Isner, this one was again decided in the champions tie-break. The two Serbs put their opponents under huge pressure in the deciding set to win it in commanding fashion by 10:3.
Krawietz/Mies aim to get back to winning ways at their next tournament, the Swiss Indoors in Basel from October 21 to 27.
