Tennis: First victory for Krawietz/Pütz after Wimbledon exit

Hamburg, 07-25-2023

For their first match after the Wimbledon semifinals, Kevin Krawietz, and Tim Pütz competed at the ATP 500 tournament in Hamburg-Rothenbaum. On court 3, the duo faced Marko Topo (19) and Marvin Möller (24) from Gräfeling and Hamburg in the first round.

Despite initial difficulties, Krawietz and Pütz managed to adjust to the clay court and enter the quarter-finals of the Hamburg European Open. They defeated Topo and Möller 7:6 (4), 6:3.

In the first set, Krawietz and Pütz initially had difficulties finding their rhythm. Topo and Möller took advantage of their weakness and took an early lead. However, the experienced duo of Krawietz and Pütz managed to turn things around and prevented a 0:3 deficit. After a strong service game by Krawietz and a break against Topo and Möller, they managed to finally win the set.

In the second set, Krawietz and Pütz showed a strong performance. They took an early lead and gave Topo and Möller no chance to stage a comeback. With the score of 5:2 for Krawietz and Pütz, the victory was already within reach. The Franconian-Hessian doubles team was able to secure their place in the quarter-finals.

They will meet Matwé Middelkoop from the Netherlands and Juan Sebastián Cabal from Colombia on Friday, 28.07.2023.
