Tennis: Krawietz/Pütz defeat Zverev/Melo in round one of the Rome Masters

Rome, 05-12-2023

The Franconian-Hessian tennis doubles team met Germany's current best singles player, Alexander Zverev, and his Brazilian colleague Marcelo Melo in round one of the Rome Masters.

Zverev's strong service game caused difficulties for Pütz at the beginning and the start to the doubles tournament was initially sluggish for Krawietz/Pütz. The German doubles team was already trailing 0:3 after 10 minutes. But Krawietz and Pütz fought their way back consistently in the following sets.

After a thrilling match, Krawietz/Pütz narrowly defeated Zverev/Melo 3:6, 6:3 and 10:6 to book their place in the last 16, where they will meet the Dutch doubles team of Haase/Van de Zandschulp on Tuesday morning.
