Nürburg, 06-04-2019

He races a Team Honda ADAC Sachsen Civic Type R TCR in the world-renowned 24-hour race alongside his commitments in the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup.

The Honda Racing driver and Formula 1 podium-finisher will be joined in the 24-hour event by the highly-experienced Markus Oestreich, Dominik Fugel and Cedrik Totz.

It is Honda’s first official participation in the iconic endurance race at the Nürburgring for 10 years and is being enthusiastically supported by Castrol, who remain incredible and long-term partners of Honda.

The Civic Type R TCR is well known to Monteiro from the current WTCR season, which he contests for the KCMG team.

The Portuguese driver will contest all three WTCR races on the Friday and Saturday of the Nürburgring event before switching his attention to the 24-hour race on Saturday and Sunday.

“I am delighted to be taking part in this legendary 24-hour-race for the first time. The Nürburgring is one of the most challenging circuits in the world and I’d like to thank Honda Germany for the opportunity to be a part of it,” said Tiago.

Equipped with a 4-cylinder turbocharged engine, the Civic Type R TCR produces around 350 hp on the track. Team Honda ADAC Sachsen is supported by JAS Motorsport in preparing the vehicle for the 24-hour-race.

The Italian racing car constructor is an official Honda technical partner for more than 20 years and is the official supplier of the Civic Type R TCR and NSX GT3 Evo.
