Welding Engineer

Your Tasks

  • Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot welding processes and parameters including Laser Welding, GMAW, Projection Welding.
  • Conduct root cause analysis to resolve process and equipment issues (e.g. to meet capability studies), enhancing production efficiency and product quality.
  • Support equipment/fixtures design reviews, build activities, runoffs, FAT/SAT, installation, commissioning, and production launch.
  • Provide support in design reviews with the design team, leveraging GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) knowledge to ensure proper fit, function, and manufacturability of designs.
  • Participate in supplier technical reviews and evaluate proposed equipment concepts, processes, cycle times, and technical solutions.
  • Troubleshoot welding-quality issues such as weld penetration, porosity, spatter, burn-through, lack of fusion, weld location, distortion, and other process-related defects.
  • Contribute to process and product design improvements in production rate, quality and cost reduction.
  • Strong understanding of welding fundamentals, including heat input, joint design, weld parameters, distortion, metallurgy, and common weld defects.
  • Track project timing, technical risks, open issues, and corrective actions throughout equipment development and launch.
  • Prepare clear technical reports, project updates, and management presentations summarizing project status, risks, issues, countermeasures, and recommendations.

Your Profile

  • Bachelor degree in Welding, Robotics/Automation, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience in welding engineering within the automotive industry, desirable in welded seat structures.
  • Strong technical expertise in Laser Welding, GMAW, and Projection Welding processes and applications.
  • Proven experience with robotic welding systems, including programming, troubleshooting, and optimization of ABB robots - mandatory to be considered
  • Advanced knowledge of GD&T, Capability studies, FMEA and DOE.
  • Decision Making, Time Management and Problem-Solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
