Tennis: Krawietz clears opening hurdle

The Witzmannsberger reaches the doubles quarterfinals together with his partner Andreas Mies at the tennis tournament in Astana.
The German top doubles team of Kevin Krawietz / Andreas Mies has cleared the opening hurdle at the ATP-500 tennis tournament in Astana, Kazakhstan. The Coburg - Cologne duo defeated the two Argentines Francisco Cerúndolo / Andrés Molteni in the round of 16 after one hour and 24 minutes with 6:4, 6:4.
Krawietz/Mies took the second service from Cerúndolo / Molteni in an even first set, but conceded a break at 3:3 when leading 3:2. The subsequent rebreak finally paved the way for the Germans to win the set 6:4.
In the second set, Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies only needed a break at 1:1 to win 6:4. With a 5:4 lead and 40:0, they immediately converted the first match point.
The next exciting match will take place in a row. Today Krawietz and his partner will play the quarterfinals against Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos.
