Rally Sol de Ponent: Successful start to the season for Dinkel/Hinrichs
Patrik Dinkel and Anna Hinrichs got the new rally season off to a successful start with an impressive class victory and fifth place overall. The duo immediately impressed in their Mitsubishi Evo VI RS at the start of the Sol de Ponent Rally in Mallorca.
The event around Port d'Andratx took place over eleven challenging special stages through the Tramuntana mountains of Mallorca. After a solid start on Friday evening, Dinkel/Hinrichs made significant gains on the second day. By the morning, they had worked their way up to fifth place overall without any mistakes – a position they defended until the finish.
The changeable conditions posed challenges for drivers and equipment. Heavy rainfall in recent weeks had left more gravel and moss on the roads. "That meant less grip, but more driving fun," explained Dinkel at the finish. The pair were satisfied with their debut and thanked their team for their smooth performance. By the evening, they had secured a clear class victory – Dinkel/Hinrichs were also the fastest team outside the powerful Rally2 category.
Now their sights are set on their next outing: the Ulm Rally on March 21. It is still unclear which vehicle they will be using – the tried-and-tested Evo VI RS or the more modern Evo IX RS.
