BBC Coburg Extends Winning Streak – Fifth Straight Win in Dresden
BBC Coburg continues its winning streak, securing a 75-64 victory in its final road game of the regular season against the Dresden Titans—its fifth consecutive win. In a frantic game, it was Nico Höllerl who paved the way to victory in crunch time with two crucial three-pointers, before captain Nico Wenzl sealed the deal with a difficult shot. Coburg’s top scorer was once again Darius Dawson with 20 points, marking his fifth straight double-digit scoring performance of the season.
Although Coburg had already secured second place, Coach Patrick Seidel’s team impressed most of all on defense. Early on, the Vestestädter hit their shots from the outside, including Fasyoiro, Dawson, and youngster Felix Egger, whose two quick three-pointers contributed to a 21-9 lead. Dresden struggled for a long time to find its offensive rhythm but closed the gap shortly before halftime, before a four-point play by Fasyoiro secured the 40-33 halftime score.
The second half was also marked by turnovers and frantic sequences. Coburg initially defended its lead thanks to Höllerl and Wenzl, but two three-pointers by Dimitrov brought Dresden back into the game. In the final quarter, the Titans even briefly took the lead before Dawson and Höllerl stabilized the BBC once again. In the final minute, Wenzl hit an enormously important shot to make it 71-64, despite a previously poor shooting percentage. The remaining points from the free-throw line secured Coburg’s road victory.
To conclude the regular season, the Franconia-Thuringia Derby against the Basketball Löwen Erfurt awaits on March 28, before Coburg heads into the playoffs.
