Kevin Krawietz and Tim Pütz have become the first Germans since 1992 to win the doubles title at the Monte Carlo Masters. In the final, the pair from Coburg and Frankfurt prevailed 10–8 in the match tie-break against Mate Pavic of Croatia and Marcelo Arevalo of El Salvador. Krawietz and Pütz had lost the first set 4–6, but they clearly dominated the second set, winning 6–2.

Having started the match as slight underdogs, they faced a pair who had previously topped the world doubles rankings and are currently ranked ninth. Krawietz and Pütz were previously ranked twelfth and thirteenth, but their triumph sees them each climb one place.

With this success, 34-year-old Krawietz and 38-year-old Pütz follow in the footsteps of former Wimbledon champions Boris Becker and Michael Stich, who were the last German pair to win in Monte Carlo in 1992. Krawietz and Pütz had already won the Masters in Shanghai in 2023, and in 2024 they achieved their greatest joint success to date with victory at the ATP Finals. Krawietz, from Coburg and supported by Brose, had already made sporting history in 2019 and 2020 when he won the French Open with Andreas Mies.

“It was a fantastic week and a great start to the clay-court season, which hasn’t always gone as we’d hoped in recent years,” said Pütz. “It was a brilliant tournament and a brilliant week for us.”
