Play-offs Coburg is in the semi-finals

Coburg, 04-29-2026

Following a real thriller against Baskets Juniors TSG Westerstede, BBC Coburg have reached the play-off semi-finals of the 2. Bundesliga ProB for the first time in the club’s history. Head coach Patrick Seidel was delighted and proud of this historic achievement after the 81–77 home victory. Finn Döntgens in particular stood out with 22 points, twelve rebounds and his first double-double in a BBC shirt, and was named MVP of the match. Other players to score in double figures were Dylan Fasoyiro (17), Nico Höllerl (12) and captain Nico Wenzl (12).

In front of 953 enthusiastic spectators at the Huk-Coburg-Arena, the BBC got off to a flying start: a 19-0 run saw Coburg pull away early, with the first quarter ending decisively at 24-9. In the second quarter, however, the visitors – weakened by absences – fought their way back and even briefly took the lead at one stage. Led by Döntgens, however, Coburg found their rhythm again and built a deserved 43-33 lead by half-time.

The game remained closely contested after the break. Westerstede closed the gap in the third quarter, but the BBC started the final period strongly and pulled away once more. After taking an 80-69 lead with two minutes remaining, the game became tense again due to their own turnovers as the visitors closed the gap to 80-77. However, the potential equaliser failed to materialise, and Finn Döntgens sealed the semi-final spot with a free throw.

Coach Seidel was relieved: despite mistakes and high-pressure situations, his team had shown character. “We’re in the semi-finals – that makes me very proud and happy,” said the BBC coach.
