Wimbledon: Krawietz and Pütz Advance to the Semifinals!

Kevin Krawietz and Tim Pütz have reached the semifinals at the Wimbledon Grand Slam tournament. The German Davis Cup doubles team defeated the French pair of Sadio Doumbia and Fabien Reboul 7-5, 7-6 (8-6) in 1 hour and 55 minutes and will continue their quest for the title.

The seventh-seeded Germans got off to a strong start with an early break. After the French evened the score, the match remained closely contested until Krawietz and Pütz converted their first set point at 6–5 to win the first set.

The second set also featured an open, back-and-forth battle between the two teams. At 5–4, the Germans initially squandered a match point. In the ensuing tiebreak, they even had to fend off two set points before clinching the set with four consecutive points.

For Krawietz, a native of Coburg who is sponsored by Brose, and his partner from Frankfurt, this marks their second Wimbledon semifinal appearance following their 2023 run. Now, they need just two more wins to claim their first Grand Slam title together.

In the semifinals, the 2024 ATP World Champions will face Marcelo Arévalo (El Salvador) and Mate Pavić (Croatia), who are seeded sixth. Krawietz and Pütz defeated this duo in April to win the Monte Carlo Masters final.

The semifinal against Marcelo Arévalo and Mate Pavić is scheduled for Thursday. A victory would see Krawietz and Pütz advance to the Wimbledon final together for the first time.
