Krawietz and Pütz Advance to the US Open Quarterfinals with a Strong Performance

New York, 09-08-2026

Kevin Krawietz and Tim Pütz have reached the quarterfinals at the US Open. The top German doubles team prevailed in the round of 16 with a convincing performance against the British pair Lloyd Glasspool and Julian Cash, winning 7-6 (7-1), 7-6 (7-5).

The Germans showed great resilience, especially in the first set. After falling behind 3–5, they fought their way back, broke back to tie the score at 5–5, and then dominated the tiebreak. In the second set as well, Krawietz and Pütz played with great confidence, particularly on their own serve. Since neither team showed any real weaknesses, the set once again came down to a tiebreak.

There, the Germans kept their composure. On the first match point, Krawietz hit the decisive return, and shortly afterward, the British pair’s volley landed in the net. After 99 minutes, their well-deserved spot in the quarterfinals was secured.

With their strongest performance of the tournament so far, Krawietz and Pütz are keeping alive their dream of winning their first US Open title together. A real test awaits them in the quarterfinals against Marcelo Arévalo and Mate Pavić. The Germans are looking to get revenge against the pair for their semifinal loss at Wimbledon.
