Final Defeat: Krawietz/Pütz Miss Out on US Open Triumph

New York, 09-12-2026

Kevin Krawietz and Tim Pütz once again narrowly missed out on their first Grand Slam title as a team. In the US Open final, the German Davis Cup doubles team lost to the American-British duo of Christian Harrison and Neal Skupski, 4-6, 6-7 (6-8).

After an even start, Krawietz and Pütz conceded a decisive break in the first set. In the second set, the German duo fought back and forced a tiebreak. There, tying the set was within reach, but a missed set point ultimately sealed their defeat.

As a result, their triumph at the 2024 ATP Finals remains “KraPütz’s” greatest joint success to date. Last year, Krawietz from Coburg and his partner from Frankfurt had already reached the final at Flushing Meadows, but they were defeated there as well.

Despite the disappointment, Pütz proved to be a gracious loser: “You didn’t let us take a single set; you deserved to win,” he said, congratulating the winners at the award ceremony. Krawietz thanked the fans at Arthur Ashe Stadium and called it a “very special” experience.
