Michael Stoschek celebrates 75th birthday

Coburg, 12-09-2022

On December 11, the Chairman of the Administrative Board of the Brose Group celebrates his 75th birthday. With over 50 years of responsibility for the Brose brand, Michael Stoschek is one of the most experienced entrepreneurs in the automotive industry. In 1971, the grandson of the company's founder took over the management of the Max Brose & Co. metal plant in Coburg and developed it into an international manufacturer of mechatronic components and systems. With a turnover of over 7 billion euros and more than 30,000 employees in 25 countries, Brose is currently the fourth largest family-owned automotive supplier.

After completing the Siemens Stammhauslehre management training program at the top of his class, Michael Stoschek took over responsibility for the company on October 1, 1971, at the request of his grandfather Max Brose. At that time, the company employed around 1,000 people and had a turnover of 55 million German marks.

When Stoschek relinquished operational management at the beginning of 2006 after 35 years, no successor was available from the fourth generation of shareholders, and a manager from outside the family took over as CEO for the first time. At that time, the business volume had risen to 2.2 billion euros, generated by 9,000 employees at 39 locations.

After Brose's financial situation had deteriorated over several years, the management board was recast in 2020 with Ulrich Schrickel, a former Bosch manager, at the helm. Since then, Michael Stoschek has been supporting the new management together with the company's advisory board. Furthermore, Maximilian Stoschek from the fourth generation of shareholders was appointed Deputy Chairman of the Administrative Board and successor to his father on July 1, 2022.

For Michael Stoschek, entrepreneurship also means taking on responsibility outside of the company. He extensively supports national and international projects focused on social issues, culture, youth programs and sports. His hometown Coburg and the city of Bamberg owe him significant initiatives in the fields of inner city development and culture.

Michael Stoschek was awarded the initiative prize of the Stiftung Industrieforschung in 2003, holds the Cross of Merit 1st Class of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany and was named Family Entrepreneur of the year in 2005. In 2010, he was awarded the Bavarian Order of Merit for his lifetime achievements.

Competitive sports have significantly influenced the entrepreneur Michael Stoschek. The multiple national champion in show jumping and European rally champion is still competing successfully in international competitions.
