Brose Sitech: Second plant in China put into operation
The joint venture Brose Sitech officially opened its second production site in China on October 18 with guests from politics, business, and the media. The newly established company Brose Sitech (Anhui) Automotive Systems Co., Ltd. located in Hefei/Anhui province will initially supply seat systems for the all-electric Cupra Tavascan. Series production will start in December 2023, and further projects with Volkswagen Anhui are already being planned. The aim is also to expand cooperation with other customers through the new plant.
Production capacity currently amounts to around 650,000 seats per year, which are delivered to the nearby Volkswagen plant in time with vehicle production, as well as around 1.2 million front seat structures. As recently as May, Brose Sitech Anhui won two further orders which will help to increase capacity utilization and sales in the region.
“Anhui is an important production center for the Chinese automotive industry and China itself is of great importance for the global market. The plant in Anhui is a logical and important step for us in our growth strategy," says Thomas Spangler, CEO of the Brose Sitech Group, adding, "We will demonstrate the quality of our products and our ability to remain competitive in a highly competitive market."
In addition to the new plant in Anhui, the joint venture in China already operates a site in Shanghai. From there, the customer SAIC-Volkswagen is supplied with seat systems and related components. Brose Sitech also maintains a development center in Shanghai.
