Anton Gavel returns to Bamberg as coach

Successful coach Anton Gavel is leaving Ratiopharm Ulm after this season and moving to Bamberg, his old club in the German Basketball League.

The 39-year-old, who crowned his debut season as head coach in Ulm by winning the German championship and advanced to the cup final with Ratiopharm Ulm this season, spent five seasons as a player in Bamberg from 2009 to 2014. Back then, the club from Upper Franconia won four of its nine championships. There is great anticipation in Bamberg due to the new coaching line-up. After some mixed years in sporting terms, they hope to be able to build on their former glory days with Gavel.
