Basketball: Obligatory victory at the last team in the table - BBC Coburg partly still showed deficits

Ludwigsburg, 11-26-2022

BBC Coburg fulfilled its duty at last-place Porsche BBA Ludwigsburg on Saturday afternoon, winning 76-87 away from home. In the table of the BARMER 2. Basketball Bundesliga ProB Coburg's basketball players thus snaked past Leitershofen/Stadtbergen, who lost against Munich. With the third win in a row, the Vestädter climbed to fifth place in the table.

There were adjustments in the starting five compared to the previous game. For Leon Bulic, Jannis Sonnefeld moved into the starting lineup. In addition, BBC forward Milan Suput made his debut from the start and immediately opened the match with a successful basket. At his old place of work Tyreese Blunt also presented himself hungry and immediately showed presence at the offensive end. With four hit free throws he inserted himself, then Carrasco and Lorber were also successful for the BBC. After Adrian Worthy also netted to put the Vestädter in front with 8:13, Ludwigsburg coach Kheeryoung Rhee took the first timeout.

A short time later, BBC coach Miller had to interrupt a deep sleep of his team with a timeout, too, after the basketball academy reduced the lead to 16:17 with an 8:0 run. Due to some individual mistakes, Coburg's basketball players got sand in their gears and the hosts got back into the game. On the offensive side, BBC got back on track and ended the first period with a 28:22 lead.

At the start of the second quarter, Coburg got going. After Sven Lorber's three-pointer, the guests took the lead with ten. Because Tyreese Blunt also ran hot with another hit from downtown, the hosts had to let go before halftime. Jannis Sonnefeld smashed a dunk into the Ludwigsburg net and converted the bonus free throw to make it 30:44. With a perfect performance from the free throw line and a solid shooting ratio from the field, BBC Coburg fended off any Ludwigsburg surge until halftime and consequently took a clear 53:41 lead from the first half.

At the beginning of the final period, Coburg's basketball players also looked sleepy and negligent at times, gave the ball away unnecessarily a few times and remained too passive on the defensive end. After a three-pointer by Nico Santana Mojica, the Ludwigsburg team cut the deficit to 65:69, but in the second half of the fourth quarter, under Blunt's leadership and with the help of Coburg's Sven Lorber and Adrian Petkovic, who also performed strongly offensively, Coburg's success finally became apparent. After captain Sven Lorber also converted his seventh free throw without an intermediate miss, the BBC took a 14-point lead.

With the 76-87 win in Swabia, the BBC puts itself in position in the upper third of the table. On the 2nd Advent the Vestädter receive the Hessing Kangaroos from Leitershofen/Stadtbergen in the home HUK-COBURG arena. The weak points from the last two encounters must now be eliminated in order to prevail against the neighbor in the standings.
