Davis Cup: Successful start for Krawietz in the German team!

The Davis Cup in China began for the German team with the duo Kevin Krawietz and Tim Pütz as well as Yannick Hanfmann and Maximilian Marterer with a well-deserved 3:0 win over Slovakia.

Marterer started off by winning his singles match against Lukas Klein 6:4, 7:5. This was followed by a hard-fought 3:6, 6:3, 7:6 (7:3) victory for Hanfmann against Jozef Kovalik. The US Open finalists Krawietz and Pütz, who had only arrived in China on Monday evening after a long journey, showed no signs of fatigue and finished off the match with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Klein and Zelenay to secure a valuable straight sets victory. Alexander Zverev's replacement Henri Squire was the only German not to play in this match.

This puts the DTB men in a good starting position ahead of the second group match against the Chileans on Thursday. The two best teams from the four groups of four will qualify for the final tournament in Malaga, which will take place from November 19 to November 24.
