Skywalker drivers shine
The weekend of May 11-13 was a very productive one for Skywalker Racing Management drivers, the Skywalker Young Guns.
Adrian Malheiro won the first race in the junior category of the Spanish karting championship, which was staged in the city of Zuera.
Meanwhile, José Rodrigues climbed up onto the 3rd step of the TCR Italy podium at the Paul Ricard circuit with Mariano Pires winning in the junior category of the KIA Picanto GT Cup, the famous Falperra hill race, held near Braga, Portugal.
Adrian Malheiro started his weekend with a win, but unfortunately he was unable to take part in the second race due to a starter problem.
"I won the first race and I was hoping to build on that in the second race. That’s racing! I will continue to fight for wins and for the title," said the young Portuguese driver.
José Rodrigues finished third in the second race of the TCR Italy at Paul Ricard after securing points for securing 6th in the first race. "It was the fastest podium of my career, because we started the race behind the safety car due to bad weather and the race ended soon after!” José explained. "I showed that I could do great things in what turned out to be a complicated debut and I scored some very important points in the championship."
Mariano Pires now has his name on the list in the junior category of two Falperra Hill Climb events, finishing 5th overall. "I am very happy with my debut. I quickly adapted to the Falperra Hill Climb even though the weather conditions were not very favorable. The track was very demanding throughout the weekend," said Mariano. "On Saturday, I won my class and finished 5th overall, which gave me confidence for the second day of racing. On Sunday, during the first climb, I was 1st in the junior category and 3rd overall. I thought it was a very good omen for the rest of the weekend. In the end, I took 1st place in the junior category and 5th in the general classification. An excellent result that was very satisfying. I would like to thank all those who supported me over the course of these two days."
