Skywalker Young Guns pilots stay in title contention

The Skywalker Young Guns pilots have completed a successful weekend in Braga.

Mariana Machado was unbeatable in the X30 category. She won both qualifying rounds, captured pole position and won the final race. That victory meant she took the lead in the Portuguese national kart championship.

Zdenek Chovanec captured an outstanding second place in this category.

Lourenço Monteiro was only able to finish ninth in this category and so could not follow up on his performance in training.

Jose Pinheiro secured an impressive third place in the Juvenile category.

Noah Monteiro, Tiago Monteiro’s son, produced good results in the qualifying rounds and captured second and third spots on the grid. Despite technical problems, he was able to move up into fourth in the race.

João Gouveia finished fifth despite mechanical problems and Rodrigo Seabra crossed the line in sixth in a fiercely contested race. Rookie José Gouveia finished ninth, demonstrating his ability to adapt to new circumstances.

The young pilots are now looking forward to the second round of the championship in Fatima on April 13 and 14.
