Stoschek/Hawranke win their class
Michael Stoschek (Ahorn) and his co-pilot Dieter Hawranke (Kassel) lined up in a 1971 BMW 2002 in the CTC category at the 16th staging of the Alzey Rally. Three different trials totaling 35 kilometers, which had to be driven twice, were on the program.
Whereas it was still raining when the cars went over the trials beforehand, the sun was shining and the routes were dry when the rally commenced.
With the hugely powerful 16-valve Schnitzer engine in the BMW 2002, the Brose team was able to clock all the best times in its class in the first round and so take the lead.
The BMW also performed flawlessly after that and Stoschek/Hawranke picked up the title in their class.
The next outing for Stoschek/ Hawranke is the San Martino di Castrozza Rally in Italy from September 14 to 15, this time in a Porsche 911 Carrera IROC.
