Tennis: Alen Mujakic secures title at regional championships
The 20-year-old tennis talent Alen Mujakic won the first title of the season at the Regional Championships of the Northern and Southern Bavarian regions.
The start of the outdoor tennis season was recently heralded by the Bavarian Tennis Association with the Championships of the Northern and Southern Bavarian Regions. Among the participants was the 20-year-old talent Alen Mujakic, who is now 112th in the German rankings.
Born in Coburg, he started his tennis career at the Coburger Turnerschaft, then switched to the Munich club TC Luitpoldpark to further his development. He now made his debut at the championships and promptly secured the title.
In the starting field of 64 participants, Mujakic was seeded at position 4. With convincing performances, he achieved clear victories and entered the quarter-finals. There, he benefited from a surrender victory against Vincent Dullinger after a hard-fought 2:1 set tie.
In the semi-finals, Mujakic met a strong competitor. After a 6:3 and 1:6 against Michael Weindl, who was seeded second, a decisive match tiebreak was necessary. In a nerve-racking duel, however, the Coburg player kept the upper hand with an impressive final score of 10:7.
In the final, Mujakic then faced 5th seed Daniel Salazar, who had previously defeated top seed Thomas J. Dafcik 6:1, 6:3 in the semi-finals. The 22-year-old opponent proved to be extremely demanding and persistent. In the end, however, the Upper Franconian managed to score one break per set and secure the championship title with a final score of 6:3 and 7:5.
