Tennis: ATP Masters Monte-Carlo ends in semi-finals for Krawietz/Pütz
The German top doubles pair defeated Jean-Julien Rojer (Netherlands) and Marcelo Arévalo (El Salvador) 6:2, 6:4 in their quarter-final match on Friday noon after a thrilling match. However, they could not build on their previous performance in the semi-finals.
Krawietz and Pütz lost to the outsiders in their semi-final match on Saturday, although they created break chances in every service game and appeared more technically variable. Thus, Monegasque Romain Arneodo and Austrian Sam Weissborn decided the match in their favour after a spectacular 127 minutes with 6:7, 6:4 and 7:10.
The title at the Monte-Carlo Masters went to Croatia's Ivan Dodig and USA's Austin Krajicek, who beat the Monegasque-Austrian doubles team in the final.
The German tennis doubles team will next compete at the BMW Open (April 17 - 23 2023) in Munich, where they are considered favourites. In round one, they await opponents Constant Lestienne (France) and Marcos Giron (USA) on Tuesday.
