US Open: Krawietz and Pütz out after first round
For the German doubles team of Kevin Krawietz and Tim Pütz, this year's US Open, one of the most important tennis tournaments in the world, began with a bitter disappointment when they were eliminated in the first round of the hard court tournament in New York. Krawietz, who was born in Coburg, and his Frankfurt partner Pütz lost to the French doubles team of Quentin Halys and Grégoire Barrère 3:6, 6:3 and 6:7.
Despite this setback, Kevin Krawietz experienced a positive turn in the mixed doubles. He celebrated a 2:6, 6:1, 10:5 opening victory alongside his Chinese partner Zhaoxuan Yang against the Ukrainian-Polish doubles team of Lyudmyla Kichenok and Jan Zielinski. The next opponents in this competition could be either the Australians Hunter and Peers or the Czech-Mexican duo Strycova and Gonzalez.
