Weld Technician

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform repairs and adjustments on welding fixtures, create standardized documents and instructions which help to increase knowledge in welding department and increase technical availability.
  • Optimize, improve and develop processes related to welding cells and fixtures.
  • Ensure customer requirements relating to quality and efficiency are met as pertaining to the specific duties and responsibilities below.
  • Review and optimize weld cells to achieve higher output, technical availability and reduce NOK
  • Investigate and improve problematic weld seam quality with sustainable level (Trumpf & 4D)
  • Investigate and improve weld fixture concepts (fixture GD&T)
  • Investigate and improve mechanical and electrical aspects of weld cell and fixtures
  • Update, modify, and continuously improve existing controls systems including robot, ladder logic, relay logic, electrical distribution, operator interface and pneumatic distribution programs
  • Schedule and complete back-ups of all electronic machine control and robotic programs on set schedule
  • Prepare and maintain all necessary standardized documents for welding equipment, processes, instructions and provide training to Weld Team Members
  • Continuous improvement initiatives and problem solving
  • Participate and support during new equipment install, ramp up projects and trials
  • Provide technical support during downtime problems, upon request or during escalation

Formal Education, Work Experience and Specialized Knowledge:

  • ABB robotics (IRC5)
  • Problem solving skills
  • Brose Welding Standards / General Welding knowledge training at Brose according to Brose Norm
  • Fixture Mechanics, electrics, pneumatics and setup
  • Trumpf laser mechanics and fundamentals
  • MAG welding
  • PLC Programming (preferred)
  • Work Instructions
  • 4D System
  • SAP
