Markus Roth Apprenticeship Brose Mechatronics

Interview with Markus Roth

What do Lego robots and my training as a mechatronics engineer have in common? Quite a lot! I'm Markus and my enthusiasm for technology and robotics started back in my school days. Taking part in the First Lego League, a competition in which the aim is to complete tasks with a programmed Lego robot, develop a research project and present it to a jury, further solidified my career aspirations: I wanted to design, implement projects and solve problems creatively. That's why I decided to train as a mechatronics engineer.

I noticed Brose as a sponsor and organizer of a competition while I was still at school. I particularly like the fact that I can take on responsibility early on, e.g. when supervising interns. The combination of mechanics, electronics and programming makes my job exciting and varied.
What began in 2019 with participation in the first First Lego League competition and culminated in the world finals in Houston, Texas, in 2023 became a formative journey. In 2025, I was even able to return to the First Lego League as a referee, thus closing the circle.
