Industrial Engineering Intern - Production

Your Tasks

  • Rotate through assigned production business units to gain hands-on exposure to manufacturing processes, plant layout, and assembly operations.
  • Support the Industrial Engineering team with time studies, cycle time analysis, and line balancing to support process planning and capacity requirements.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of process flow diagrams, P-FMEA documentation, and manufacturing layouts.
  • Support updates to work instructions to ensure documentation reflects current production processes, engineering changes, and BPS requirements.
  • Participate in trial builds and support PPAP/ISIR activities for new and existing production programs.
  • Support ergonomics assessments and job-safety analyses across assigned production areas while following applicable safety and OSHA requirements.
  • Assist with skill matrix tracking and the maintenance and auditing of production operator training records.
  • Compile and analyze production, quality, and attendance data to support reporting and continuous improvement activities.
  • Work alongside Industrial Engineering Coordinators and Team Leads and participate in cross-functional production meetings to develop a broad understanding of plant operations.
  • Support additional production and Industrial Engineering projects as assigned.

Your Profile

  • Currently enrolled as a Freshman or Sophomore pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • No prior professional experience required; previous exposure to manufacturing or production environments is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an interest in manufacturing and continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Willingness and ability to learn engineering and business systems such as AutoCAD, SAP, and MFG/PRO.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing and production concepts preferred.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and adaptable with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across production and engineering teams.
