2nd BBL: Coburg's Three-Point Barrage Secures Statement Victory

Coburg, 03-15-2025

In front of their home crowd, BBC Coburg was able to make a significant statement in the playoff battle against the Tropics from Oberhaching on Saturday evening. In their 105:89 victory, the Vestestädter particularly excelled from beyond the three-point line, shooting a remarkable 75 percent from outside under head coach Patrick Seidel.

Coburg started the game well. Captain Nico Wenzl and forward Tim Herzog hit their first three-pointers right away. BBC managed to build a small lead midway through the first quarter. In the second quarter, Coburg kept Oberhaching consistently at a distance of between five and nine points. However, veteran Omari Knox netted three three-pointers in the last two minutes before the break, bringing his team narrowly back into the lead (45:46). After the halftime break, the game remained open. While Coburg was particularly successful from outside as a team, Knox carried the Tropics' offense on his shoulders alone. After Nedzad Muratovic was out of the game due to his second technical foul, the rotation of the injury-plagued guests was reduced to seven men. Nevertheless, Oberhaching continued to hold on, and the game went into the final quarter tied at 68:68. There, the guests' thin bench became increasingly noticeable, which BBC exploited ruthlessly. The hosts scored 37 points against the Tropics. Not a single shot from beyond the 6.75m line missed in the final quarter. With the home victory over Oberhaching, Coburg temporarily solidifies their place in the top eight and secures the direct comparison.

Next Saturday, March 22, 2025, the Vestestädter will be guests at the reigning champion and current table neighbor, the Dragons Rhöndorf. Jump is at 6:00 PM.
