BBC Coburg: First defeat of the season
- BBC Coburg First defeat of the season
BBC Coburg suffered its first defeat of the season on the 8th matchday of the ProB South: 85:99 at Oberhaching Tropics. The decisive factor was a disastrous first half, in which Coburg failed to get into the game both in offense and defense and trailed by 37:57. The deficit was even 26 points at one stage (23:49). The absence of top scorer Dylan Fasoyiro was clearly noticeable, although youngsters Julian Günther and Nico Höllerl moved into the starting five. Oberhaching's point guard Jonathan Zeisberger dominated the first quarter with 13 points and gave the home side a double-digit lead early on. Coburg committed numerous fouls, lost possession and missed open shots, enabling the Tropics to score numerous easy points.
The BBC showed a different face after the break: The team fought its way back with more aggression and better defending and cut the deficit to six points at times (78:84). A 12:4 run and several good sequences by Dawson, Wenzl and Mota brought hope, but three successful threes by Oberhaching in the final spell decided the game for good. Coburg's best scorer was Darius Dawson with 22 points.
Head Coach Patrick Seidel spoke of a deserved defeat, but praised the response in the second half and sees the chance to learn from mistakes. Despite the defeat, Coburg remains top of the ProB South table.
BBC Coburg does not really have much time to recover and come to terms with its first defeat of the season, as the well-rested Dresden Titans await the league leaders at home in the HUK-COBURG arena next Friday evening (November 14).
