BBC Coburg: Home winning streak ends against Ulm

Coburg , 12-06-2025

On the 12th match day of ProB South, BBC Coburg suffered its first home defeat of the season. In front of 945 spectators, the team lost to the visitors from Ulm 71:87. Coburg trailed from the start and failed to find a consistent offensive rhythm throughout the game. Ulm's strong defense and numerous mistakes prevented a turnaround.

Coburg struggled to score points in the first quarter. Ulm's 17-year-old talent Meissa Faye dominated the first half with 23 points and gave his team a 47:34 lead at the break. A 40-minute interruption due to a false alarm in the HUK-COBURG arena did not change the momentum. Ulm continued to set the tone in the second half. Point guard Namori Omog made important contributions and kept the visitors ahead by double digits throughout. Coburg closed the gap to 66-71 in the final quarter after two three-pointers from Herzog and Egger, but missed the chance to turn the game around. After the game, coach Patrick Seidel criticized the weak defense, many drives allowed, problems with rebounding, and unnecessary fouls. Ulm had eight more shots and nine more free throws than Coburg. In addition, 15 turnovers, including some careless ones, led directly to points for Ulm. The top scorers for Coburg were Tim Herzog and Dylan Fasoyiro with 14 points each.

The defeat was deserved, as Coburg was unable to deliver its usual quality either defensively or offensively. Despite the loss, the BBC remains at the top of the table, but now only has a one-win lead over Ulm.

At the end of the first half of the season, BBC Coburg will face VR-Bank Würzburg Baskets Akademie in the Franconian derby this coming Saturday afternoon (December 13). Patrick Seidel's protégés will be looking to quickly put their defeat in the top match behind them and conclude the best ProB first half of the season in the club's history with another victory.
