BBC Coburg loses in Franconian derby

On the 13th match day of ProB South, BBC Coburg suffered a 93:97 defeat at VR-Bank Würzburg Baskets Akademie, its second loss in a row after the defeat against Ulm. The main reason was weak defense: Würzburg's David Pisic scored a personal career high of 42 points (9 three-pointers) and almost single-handedly led his team to victory.

Coburg's best player was Darius Dawson with 30 points and 15 rebounds (double-double). Despite leading at one point (by up to 12 points), Coburg lost control after halftime, especially defensively. Würzburg turned the game around in the third quarter and extended its lead.

Coburg fought its way back in the final phase, but a technical foul for a game clock that did not start sealed the defeat. Head coach Patrick Seidel criticized a lack of energy and consistency in defense as well as too many individual actions in offense. He announced adjustments for the next game against Langen.

After two setbacks against Ulm and Würzburg, BBC Coburg now needs to regroup and focus all its energy on the start of the second half of the season and the end of the year on Sunday (December 21) against the promoted team from Langen.
