BBL: Baskets Defeat Frankfurt Convincingly!

Bamberg, 03-08-2025

The Bamberg Baskets have won their third encounter with the SKYLINERS from Frankfurt this season. Under the eyes of the nearly complete championship team from 2005, the Bamberg team defeated the Hessians on Saturday evening during the anniversary game, commemorating the first German championship 20 years ago, with a score of 92:85 (42:48).

At the beginning of the game, the lead changed hands several times. At the end of the first quarter, the score was almost even at 20:22. The second quarter remained tight as well. Just seconds before halftime, Frankfurt's Malik Parsons set the halftime score at 42:48. At the start of the second half, Bamberg noticeably increased their intensity. The guests from Frankfurt initially still had everything under control and were still ahead 4:46 minutes before the end of the third quarter. With perhaps the most beautiful basket of the evening, Ronaldo Segu tied the game again. After a stop in defense, it was Kyle Lofton who reclaimed the lead for Bamberg at the free-throw line. Kyle Lofton added a successful layup, and thus Bamberg led 68:59 after 30 minutes and a 26:11 in the third quarter. Anton Gavel's team seemed to have control of the game and achieved their highest lead at 78:65 (33rd minute). 3:07 minutes before the end, the Baskets were still clearly ahead at 86:74 after Filip Stanić's alley-oop, before the Hessians came back to 88:83 with Kamaka Hepa's three-pointer 21 seconds before the end. However, Bamberg did not let the victory slip away.

Next Tuesday, March 11th, the Bamberg Baskets will continue. They will host FC Bayern Munich Basketball. Jump is at 20:00.
