For the 8th edition of the Rallyespirit Altice on 1-4 June, 85 teams from ten nations had entered and presented their vehicles from over 60 years of motorsport history to the spectators.
Michael Stoschek (Ahorn) and Tiago Monteiro (Porto) had registered with the Porsche Carrera RSR 3.0 IROC (1973). The last time they competed with the same car was in 2022 at the Modena Cento Ore.
On a total distance of 436 kilometres, 10 special stages and a circuit with a total of 93 kilometres were on the agenda over three days. Ex-European champion Michael Stoschek and former Formula 1 driver Tiago Monteiro took turns at the wheel. Tiago Monteiro has been supported by Brose since the beginning of his racing career and made it as far as Formula 1 and was only robbed of the title of World Touring Car Champion in the 2017 season by a serious training accident through no fault of his own.
The crowd's enthusiasm for Portugal's multiple Sportsman of the Year was indescribable in his home town, both in the car and on the road.
Even though the joy of presenting the factory Porsche, which was only produced in an edition of 15, was in the foreground, the two passionate racing drivers Stoschek and Monteiro showed great ambition. Michael Stoschek was at the wheel in 8 special stages, Tiago Monteiro in 3 stages. In their class, the team was in position 1 and 2 in all stages and could only not overtake the modern WRC and R5 cars in the overall ranking.
The next event will be back home: Michael Stoschek will start with co-driver Dieter Hawranke in a 4-valve BMW 2002 at the Grabfeldrallye on 01 July.
