Brose supports reconstruction of the Horch 14-17 PS
Visitors to Sunday’s auto fair in Zwickau had a chance to see a number of notable historical vehicles. Among the modern and classic cars shown on the marketplace was one very special automobile: a Horch 4-17 PS Tonneau. This replica represents the beginning of automotive engineering in Zwickau. The company A. Horch & Cie. Motorwagen A-G, which was founded on May 10, 1904, gave top priority to the production of this car. At the time Max Brose, founder of Brose Fahrzeugteile GmbH & Co. KG, was 20 years old. He was able to see the “genuine” Horch on the road.
The Friends of the August Horch Museum have been building an exact replica of this famous car for six years. The participants include not only experienced engineers, but also students at universities in the area. All are benefiting immensely from the sharing of knowledge. The complete coach body was put on display for the first time on the occasion of the city’s 900th anniversary. At present, the car’s wooden seats are still in untreated condition. The association’s next task will be to paint them and put in upholstery.
Brose has donated 10,000 euros in support of the laborious and cost-intensive efforts to build this classic car from the years of its founder. Jörg Graichen (plant director of Brose Meerane) presented the check to the association at the Zwickau auto fair.
