Dominik Dinkel won the Three Towns Rally in commanding fashion, but was not able to prevent Marijan Griebel from taking the title. Second spot in the final rally of the season was enough for Griebel in his Peugeot to capture the German Rally Championship together with his co-pilot Alex Rath. Dominik Dinkel in his Skoda turned in a perfect display in the Three Towns Rally and not only captured overall victory, but also picked up the full number of points on the power stage. However, that was not enough to close the gap between him and Griebel.
“Of course, I’m a bit disappointed we didn’t finish up as German champions. Perhaps we threw away our chance of the title in the course of the season. All the same, we always gave our best. We couldn’t manage any more,” said Dinkel.
