German Basketball League: Bamberg Baskets land a thumping victory over MBC

Bamberg, 02-03-2024

This win was so important! With an outstanding Adrian Nelson with 28 points, 9 rebounds and a Bundesliga season-best 33 assists, a collectively strong Bamberg Baskets celebrated a well-deserved 108:78 victory over their neighbors in the table, Mitteldeutscher BC!

The boys of Head Coach Oren Amiel took the criticism after the unnecessary defeat in Braunschweig to heart in the "basement duel" against the MBC. The home side pressed the pace in offense right from the start, resulting in a quick 7:0. Although the visitors were able to take a brief 15:18 lead, the strong Filip Stanic and Karsten Tadda, in his 600th German league game, turned the game around to give Bamberg a 23:22 lead at the end of the quarter. Bamberg did not let anything get in its way from midway through the second quarter: Trey Woodbury's three was followed by a 15:4 run to lead 48:37 at the break. And the Amiel players went into a frenzy in offense in the third quarter: Adrian Nelson drained 12 points in the space of six minutes to lay the foundation for Bamberg's clear 29:13 lead in the third period. With a 27-point lead at the start of the final period, Head Coach Oren Amiel called his leading player Zach Copeland to the bench, but Bamberg also stretched its lead to 33 points with Lukas Herzog with 5 points, 4 assists and Abdulah Kameric. The game ultimately ended 106:73.

Bamberg Baskets' Head Coach Oren Amiel commented: "We finally showed consistency. We played well throughout the game, especially in defense, and fought hard."

Bamberg Baskets visit local rivals Würzburg Baskets from Lower Franconia on Friday, February 9, 2024.
