Dominik Dinkel was allowed to return to the track last weekend in the mountains near Rohr, giving him the chance to test the brand-new Škoda Fabia Rally2 evo from Romo-Motorsporttechnik and work out initial basic setups. There was also a change in the cockpit: Ursula Mayrhofer took over from Christina Fürst, who is on maternity leave. Dominik Dinkel sums up: “I think the first test after the long forced break due to coronavirus was extremely positive. We and the Romo team achieved real progress, especially as regards the Brose Škoda’s braking and handling.”
The season now begins on July 24 through 26 with the Rally di Roma Capitale, which now kicks off the FIA ERC1 Championship, in which the avowed aim of the Brose rally team is the Junior title. The calendar, which has been rearranged due to the Covid-19 virus, then takes the participants to Latvia, the Czech Republic, the Azores and the Canary islands. Comprehensive information on the ERC can be found on the Internet at www.fiaerc.com. Live action is offered by Facebook, YouTube and ERC Radio, while the well-known TV station Eurosport will broadcast an evening summary of what has happened on every day of the rally. All the events are new territory for Dominik Dinkel. His aim is to keep on learning more and gradually to approach the level of the experienced top-flight pilots in the ERC. “It’s a really good feeling to have all the sponsors and my backer Michael Stoschek firmly behind me, especially now. I thank him for the trust he has put in me and want to repay it with good results,” says Dominik Dinkel in conclusion.
