On hot wheels with Dominik Dinkel
16 trainees from our Coburg, Bamberg/Hallstadt and Würzburg locations and nine members of the CAT Racing Team from Coburg University had a special appointment at the safe driving course in Forchheim: They had the chance to get to know the Brose Motorsport pilot Dominik Dinkel. Our company has supported the successful driver since 2012. He is currently contending for the title in the German Rally Championship (DRM).
Two Mitsubishi Evo 6 and Evo 7 cars, each with 300 hp and all-wheel drive, awaited the youngsters from Brose. After brief safety instructions, the first volunteers got into the car with Dominik Dinkel and his teammate Ralf Hillmann to cover the course at a terrific speed, including spectacular drifts in the bends. The enthusiasm among the participants was visible after every lap. “I was very nervous, but it was really good,” was how Adrian Forkel, a mechatronics trainee from Coburg, described the drive.
The young ladies also felt totally safe next to the experienced pilot. “You’re thrown to and fro, but every move Dominik made in the cockpit was down to perfection,” enthused Jessica Blank, likewise a mechatronics trainee at Würzburg.
Dominik Dinkel and co-pilot Christina Fürst retired in their Skoda Fabia R5 at the 48th ADAC Stemweder Berg Rallye in Lübbecke in June due to a driving mistake. As a result, the car landed in a ditch. Despite of this drop-out Dinkel is still race leader in the DRM. He is ten points in advance before the runner-up.
