San Martino di Castrozza

Second place for Brose Motorsport in San Martino di Castrozza

San Martino di Castrozza, 09-15-2018

After participating in the San Martino di Castrozza rally in 2010 to 2012 and 2017 and winning it in 2011 and 2012, the Brose team again lined up at the event held in the Dolomites.

Michael Stoschek (Ahorn) and Dieter Hawranke (Kassel) started in their Porsche Carrera 3.0 IROC with the number two and were the only foreign drivers in the race. The 25 teams with historical cars faced seven trials over 118 kilometers and 240 kilometers of connecting stretches.

After two trials, the Brose team improved from 9th to 8th overall and wanted to make up further ground, despite the fact that the transmission it was using was too long, which meant additional gear changing in the numerous tight bends. Stoschek/Hawranke had climbed to 6th by the midday break and were able to work their way into 5th overall by the time they crossed the line.

At the finishing ramp, the Brose team picked up the trophies for coming second in its class. The historical rally was overshadowed by two serious accidents in which the cars were total write-offs and the people in them suffered considerable injuries.

The next outing for Michael Stoschek is the Bernina Mountain Race in Switzerland on September 22/23, 2018.
