Successful outing for Stoschek/Monteiro in Verona

Verona, 10-12-2019

At this June’s Modena Cento Ore Rally, Michael Stoschek and Tiago Monteiro were forced to withdraw with engine damage at the end of the first day while in the lead. Stoschek drove the special trials with Monteiro as co-pilot, while Monteiro tackled the circuits on his own.

The two, who have been friends for more than 20 years, prepared for the 2020 event by lining up in the Due Valli in Verona, the final race of the Italian Rally Championship, last weekend. For the first time, Monteiro wrote the pacenotes and read them to Stoschek in English.

The 1973 2.8-liter Porsche Carrera RSR stayed the course without any problems and despite the extremely poor mountain roads on the 343-kilometer route (of which 112 km were special trials). More than a quarter of the cars were forced to retire.

At the finish line on the famous Piazza Bra square in front of the Verona Arena, the German/Portuguese duo and the service team of Guido Brasch and Ronny Amm clocked a total time of 1:19:51 to finish second in their class.
