Swiss Indoors: Krawietz Falls in the Quarterfinals
It was a brief interlude for Kevin Krawietz without the injured Tim Pütz at the Swiss Indoors in Basel. With his interim partner Alexander Nedovyesov, the Coburg native was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the ATP 500 tournament. Krawietz and Nedovyesov lost to the top-seeded Wesley Koolhof from the Netherlands and Nikola Mektić from Croatia with 4-6, 6-7.
Initially, the duo Krawietz and Nedovyesov started well and took the lead. However, this was equalized by the Dutch-Croatian duo. After missed break chances, the pair lost the first set 4-6. In the second set, the German-Kazakh duo also started better. But as quickly as they had taken the lead, Koolhof and Mektić came back. The final point of the match was a match ball, which Koolhof converted with a smash to secure a 6-7 win for him and his Croatian partner.
