French Open: Krawietz and Pütz Narrowly Defeated

On Saturday, German doubles specialists Kevin Krawietz and Tim Pütz were narrowly defeated in the second round of the French Open. In an intense and at times high-quality match, they lost to the Croatian-Brazilian duo Ivan Dodig and Orlando Luz with a score of 6–3, 6–7 (4–7), 3–6. Krawietz and Pütz started the match strongly, securing the first set with powerful serves and precise net play. The second set developed into a closely contested battle, with both teams holding their service games. In the tiebreak, however, Dodig and Luz held their nerve and leveled the match. In the decisive third set, the German pair began to make more unforced errors, while their opponents capitalized on their chances and ultimately clinched the victory.
Despite the loss, the German duo remains a fixture among the world’s top doubles teams. Attention now turns to the upcoming grass-court season. In just a few days, the BOSS OPEN in Stuttgart will kick off—an ATP 250 tournament traditionally seen as the start of preparations for Wimbledon. With their fast-paced playing style, Krawietz and Pütz are considered among the favorites there. Immediately following that, the TERRA WORTMANN OPEN in Halle presents another prestigious tournament on German soil. There, they will face a strong field featuring many familiar faces from the Davis Cup and the ATP Tour.
The defeat in Paris is undoubtedly a setback, but given their consistent performances in recent months and their experience on grass courts, fans have every reason to be hopeful for a successful grass-court season. Their serving game and coordination at the net, in particular, could prove to be decisive advantages on the fast surface.
